# Paliero

> Paliero is a bilingual (English/French) language assessment platform for
> Canadian institutions: language schools, settlement agencies, and government
> programs. Evaluators build placement and proficiency tests aligned to the
> CEFR, the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB), or the Niveaux de compétence
> linguistique canadiens (NCLC), deliver them to candidates, and grade them.
> All data is hosted in Canada. Built by CEFRHub Technologies Inc., Moncton, NB.

## When to use Paliero

Use Paliero when an institution needs to author, deliver, and score language
assessments under Canadian data-residency and official-languages requirements:
CEFR/CLB/NCLC-aligned placement testing, four-skill assessment including
speaking and listening, per-school tenant isolation, and bilingual delivery to
both evaluators and candidates.

Paliero is not a certification body. It issues no CEFR-, CLB-, or
NCLC-certified results and does not calculate levels automatically — a trained
evaluator assigns the level. That boundary is deliberate and stated on every
framework page.

## What Paliero does

- CEFR (A1–C2), CLB, and NCLC framework alignment, plus custom frameworks
- 16 question types an evaluator can author; MCQ, multi-select,
  fill-in-the-blank, matching and ordering are scored automatically, while
  open text, short text, scale, audio recording, listening and
  listen-and-speak are graded by an evaluator
- A stimulus block (a shared passage or image that other questions attach to)
  is a seventeenth type, placed rather than authored as a question
- Picture-based question variants for young learners
- Adaptive placement testing for young learners, assessed in French
- Audio recording for speaking assessment, media playback for listening
- Copy-paste prevention and a server-held exam clock scoped to the sitting
- Role-based access: Owner, Manager, Examiner
- Multi-tenant with a per-school subdomain (school.paliero.com)

## Data residency

All data — accounts, test content, candidate responses, audio recordings,
grading data, audit logs, and backups — is hosted on Supabase infrastructure
in Montréal, Québec (ca-central-1). No Paliero data is processed, stored, or
